The Texas Center for Community Journalism offers the following services to community newspapers:
- We offer day-and-a half workshops, all expenses paid, courtesy of the Texas Newspaper Foundation. These are typically offered in March and May. You can find information on these workshops on the Center’s website.
- We offer one-day workshops throughout the year. Most of them are offered for a nominal fee, and the topics are chosen in response to needs identified by the newspapers we serve. If you have a suggestion for a workshop, email us at tccj@tcu.edu. We also offer videos you can use to train your staff.
- Our ask-an-expert program allows you to ask anything you want of experts in law, newspaper design, reporting and writing, advertising, photojournalism, and Website management. Answers to your questions are posted on the Website, and we’ll be glad to let you ask your question anonymously if you prefer.
- Need an on-site visit from Publisher in Residence Roy Eaton to look at your operation and make suggestions? Or from a writing coach? Or a Web expert? These can be arranged through the center. Some visits are free, and others might be offered at a nominal cost. Call the director or email us at tccj@tcu.edu to talk about how to schedule a visit to your newspaper.
- Bookmark this Website and friend us on Facebook. We will offer all kinds of information. You’re busy and don’t have time to sift through everything that’s transforming the world of community journalism. Let us do that for you, and we’ll keep you posted on this Website.
